World War II

World War II was said to have rooted from the expasionists goals of Germany, Italy and Japan. This common goal was what brought them together to form the Axis powers. They won many battles during the early stage of the war yet it was the Allied  powers who emerged victorious in WWII. The turn of events that led to the participation of Soviet Union and United States in World War II was the key factor that enabled the Allied forces to win against the Axis powers.
As Hitler made aggressive efforts to dominate Europe in order to adhere to his expasionalist idea Britain and France vigorously opposed such moves. Yet when France fell,  Britain was the only one left to fight Germanys aggression. It was not until the entry of the Soviet Union and United States in WWII that luck shifted to the Allied side and in the process change the course of events. Stalin decided to join the Allied forces when Hitler made moves to invade the Soviet Union even after the pact of nonaggression was made by the two leaders. As German soldiers drove deep into Soviet Union the Soviet troops were aided by the Russian winter. Germans shivered in their summer uniforms and their tanks and other military vehicles would not start in the cold and due to this turn of events Germany was unsuccessful in their invasion of Soviet Union as well as other territories. The Battle of Stalingrad was considered the German Armys greatest defeat and was considered as a major turning point of the war. On the other hand United States joined the Allied powers following Japans attack on Pearl Harbor on December, 1941. Due to this event the War in the Pacific escalated but eventually due to the massive offensives of the United States against Japan the Pacific war moves from island to island. After the Battle of Midway US launched a counter offensive known as  island hopping  , the plan was to capture key islands until Japanese soldiers came within range of American bombers. It proved to be an effective strategy and eventually Japanese troops were beaten. The bombing of Nagazaki and Hiroshima bring forth the total surrender of Japan and in the process marked the and of  the Pacific war and World War II.
The victory of the Allied powers was due to the joint efforts made by its members, however  it is quite apparent that the involvement of Soviet Union and the United States in World War II was a crucial point that made the difference in the outcome of the said war. The lost of the German Army to the Soviet troops in Stalingrad marked the turning point in the war in Eastern Europe. This made it possible for the Russians to move westward and  eventually prevented further aggression of the German troops. As for the United States, her involvement in this war was also of critical importance for it was through her efforts that the Pacific War during World War II came to an end and nations that were greatly affected by the Japanese invasion and atrocities was saved from further.
